When putting together this project, I remembered having this old cigar box that use to belong to my great, great grandmother on my father's side of the family. There is a date on a piece a paper marked 1891. Somone once told me ,"most people have a "box of stuff" somewhere in their possesions.

I've always enjoyed the look of old photos. Being someone who enjoys pinhole and toy camera photography, I wanted to create a set of "tools" that I could use to somehow merge these two worlds together. Due to the cost and limited availability of supplies to create these the old fashion way, I thought, "why not create a process where you can take an existing image and blend it with another to achieve that vintage look and feel?" I found that a lot of these old tintypes and daguerreotypes were burdened with images dead people, war, etc. Why not give them a new home? I can hear all the film purists out there rumbling and mumbling about all this digital blending... All I can say is, that at some point film/etc. will have to be converted to digital, if it's ever going to be preserved and seen globally.

As I find time, I will be adding features to section of my web site. If you use one of the base layers, all I ask is that you point others to the site. Have fun whatever you do!
